Times Person of The Year

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, told the world on Wendsday December 15th that he was Time Magazines person of the year. He did this by putting this on Facebook where anyone can see it. Mark launched facebook in Feb. 2004 and facebook became a huge social network hit by 2008. They say through facebook more than a half a billion people connect with eachother. Mark was honored with this recognition. However, many techies will argue that others perhaps should have gotten the reward instead of Mark. Some say the wikileaks owner Julian Assange should have won it. Others say anyone from the tea party should have won it. Some say that the Times Magazine picked someone that everyone agreed with, not someone who was contorversal.

I think Time Magazine can give it to whoever they want to. If you dont agree with who it was then get your own magazine and put your own guy in it. This guy is a good guy, he doesnt keep all the money that he recevies he just gave away 100 million to the schools in Newark. Puting this guy as person of the year is way better to read about than reading about the war and gloom in the world.

Elizabeth Edwards Death

On Tuesday Dec. 7th Elizabeth Edwards, former wife of John Edwards past away from her battle of cancer of 6 years. Edwards found out she had breast cancer the day after the 2004 election when her husband John became a presidental candate. Throughout his campain there was a lot of mud slinging. It was found out that he had an affair, and that his mistress was pregnant. She now had to endure the reality of cancer and her affair with her husband. The media being no help in this situtiation. Elizabeth was an author, health care advocate, and an attorney. She was the mother of 3 kids, the youngest of them being 10 years old. Much of the media portrayed their life like a movie star couple.
My opinion is that I am more mad at the media than John. When this lady is going through this rough time the last thing she needs is the media making her family look like a disgrace. The media never sees what is the right thing to do. They have no respect for anyone but themselves. Yes, we need to know some stuff about their private life because the man is running for president. This woman will be remembered as the cheater John Edwards and not the mother of 3 kids Elizabeth Edwards.

North Korea attacks South Korea

Last Tuesday North Korea bombed a peninsula in South Korea killing 2 soldiers and wounding many others. North Korea being a Communist and South Korea being a Democratic Party like us here in the U.S. The whole world is confused and wondering why they did this attack. Leader Kim Jong-il  wants to make his youngest son the leader of the country. His son only being 27 years old and has no experience with military and leadership skills. The whole world is watching on the edge of their seats because they are threating to not honor the peace treating although they have not set off any nucleur weopons but it is believed that they are stocking up uranium.

In my opinion it is scary to think of this because we cant get involed in another war, but we cant just sit here and do nothing. the United Nations is going to have to step up in this and do something about it before it gets out of hand.

Issue #3 Safe to Eat?

This artical is about foodborne illnesses such as Ecoil that is often found in contaminated produce. What started a major debate on whose going to regulate the produce industry was a major Ecoil break out in 2006. This outbreak made 200 people very sick and 3 died from it. They believed what caused this was cow manure getting spread in spinich fields which the manure had run into. Ecoil can not be washed off. It has to by irradiation. foodborne illnesses  Many people feel that the produce industry like the meat and poultry industry, should be regulated by the FDA FDA or by the dep. of ag. Right now the produce industry is self regulated by the growers and farmers. Some feel that at least one gov. agency should be regulating the safety of the food supply in the U.S. Others feel that they could regulate it much better themselves.

If the gov. is going to be in everything else why not be in this one too. We need to give the fda more money to keep an eye on what is going on. Produce is good for you and you dont want to be scaring people off of good food, healthy food.

Randy Moss Waived

The Vikings waived Moss for the simply fact that he simply didnt want to play for us anymore and wanted to play with his former teammates from the New England Patriots. He gave a press confrience saying this, he was very disrespectful to the vikings staff and team. He said he was not going to give anymore press confrences, on that same day the news media found about a outrage he had at a local restaurant. He told the owner that he wouldnt feed his food to his dog and that was the food he had to eat when he was poor. He was picked up by the Tennese Titans 2 days after he was waived.
In my opinion it sticks that he isnt playing for us because he is a very good player. He made our team really shine, but if that is the way he is going to act then he can leave. We dont need anymore negative press for the vikings. He is too unpreditable to have as a player. You cant have a teammate going off on an owner just because of the food that he gave him. He never even took a bit of the meal. He needs to grow up and he would make a lot of teams proud to have him.

Iraq Church Slaughter

On October 31st Al Qaeda members went to a church in Baghdad and took all church members as hostages. When the police stormed the church Al Qaeda set off 2 suicide vests killing several people inside the church. Other members killed all the hostages inside. There was a total of 58 deaths. Several more were wounded, including some going to the hospital without hands and legs. This was a christian church in Baghdad. They had wanted the release of all members of Al Qaeda in Prison.

This is a terrible thing for the simple fact that they killed everyone that they could. These people just being normal people going to christian church and then getting slaughtered. This is the stupid stuff that makes me want to join the army and go kick some ass. But in the end of the day that isnt going to help because it is a religous belief on their part. This is forcing the good people in Iraq to leave the country. I think we will be in Iraq for a long long time yet.

Drug smuggling tunnels

30 tons of weed was found in a warehouse in San Diego. This smuggling operation brought this weed in from Cal./Mex. border through a 600 yard tunnel with lighting and ventalation and also with a railing system. From this bust it lead back to Tijuane Mex. Although 30 tons seems like a lot, they said that 105 tons was busted within the last month. They also said that in the past four years 75 tunnels were discovered along the border of cal. and Arizona. There have been 125 tunnels found on these same borders since 1990 and only one tunnel found on the Canadian/U.S. border. The U.S. created a task force called the U.S. Border Task Force. This task force uses robots to find the newly dug tunnels. This task force was created in 2006 because of this problem.

As you can see that most of the problems are found in Mexico this is why we need to pass more laws. I think that the gov. should put more money into the task force. We should work with the mexican police more so they can tell us info and we can tell them. I think that we could control this very well.

New Arizona Immigration Law

In August of this year the gov. of Phoenix, Arizona, Jan Brewwer signed a state of Arizona Immigration Law. This law will allow law enforcement to stop and detain illgal immigrants if they dont have there green card, and proper identification. It also allows them to deport back to Mexico. Almost immediately, President Obama and the national press criticized this new law and said it needed major improvements. There were several riots and ralleys because of this new bill. The Hispanics said that they are getting harrased and the discriminating is going to far. They said it was racial and ethnic profiling. Jan Brewwer was once again voted in on the gov. race, which means that at least the Arizona people agreed with the law.

In my Opinon I think it is great that this law passed. If they come into our country, then they can put up with our laws. If they dont like it then stay home. It is proven that smugglers are bringing drugs into Arizona and with the drug running comes the violence. They take our jobs and are making our unemployment go way up. I think it is awsome that this law passed and we should pass more.

Republicans are taking over!

The Nov. 2nd election results were not a big suprise to a lot of people. The House of rep. needed 39 seats to take the majority lead. They accomplished this by gaining rep. 60 seats. This has been the biggest upset since the 1948 election. The Republicans have yet to control the senate. They have only picked up 6 additional seats so far. There are quite a few states that have to do recounts. This articlebelieves that 75% of people are not happy with the way the country is being run. They are not happy with the high unemployment rate, the economy and the health care bill. The reason the way they voted this way is because of the tea party movement. John Boehner is now the Speaker of the House, John being a republican.

My opinon is that we should get more republicans in the senate and house. We have not yet seen what they can do when it is mostly repulbicans. It would be great to see what they could do. I agree with the tea party movement and i strongly support them. We need change in gov. People are simply looking for jobs and looking to turn the economy around.

Political views too passionate ?

The day before the big Rally to Restore Sanity there was a rally for congressional candidates Dan Webstar and Alan Grayson. In this peticular rally things got out of hand. A 23 year old volunteer from Florida named Lauren Valle was pushed to the ground and assulted by Rand Paul. He kicked her in the head as she layed on the ground helpless. In a different rally for Webstar a man stood in the backround holding a Grayson sign when he was assaulted by a man who supported Webstar. He would have kept fighting until a women stepped between them and broke it up and told the man that he had every right to be there, which is totally true. This looked pretty funny because Webstar was telling the people to not fight and we need to work torwards peace, and yet you have a man right behind him starting a fight.

My opinion is that this man can do what ever he wants to do. Its call freedom of speech people. And on top of it he had to rip a sign out of his hands that that man bought with his own money, crumpled it up. That is destruction of property. I thought this was pretty funny because the whole speech was about peace and not fighting and yet people are fighting during the speech. This man took so many of the other mans rights away which is not right. Something should have been done to this man to make a point out of it. Granted the news is putting it out there, but the cops didnt get called or anything.

ISSUE #1 -War Dollars.

This artical is basically explains both the power of the purse side of funding the wars and the commander and cheif and his role as the president and commander of all our military branches. One argument is that yes, the president is the commander and chief of the military, however, congress holds the power of the purse. In other words they have a say in what wars will be funded and for how long. So they also can influence war policies simply by what they will fund and what they won't fund. An example of this was the vietnam war. Congress chose to over rule President Regan. Others agrue that the american people elected the president and one of his roles is commander and chief of the military. So they are saying that we should let him make the decisions on war funding and policies and not have congress involved. power of the purse/commander and chief

My belief in this is that we should have the power of the purse when it comes to making war decisions because we can't have another Hitler. The President would get currupted with power and start to make wrong decisions that people might not even want. The consitution was made up for "We the People for the People" and congress stresses that because they work for us and not one guy. They want what we are going to want. Issue #1 war dollars also believes in the power of the purse.

Taliban Attack NATO Supply Trucks in Pakistan

Many talibans have started to target our supply trucks that carry goods; such as clothing, food, water, fuel. 20 trucks were shot up during one night. One of them being a fuel tank. Four died and 7 were injured. People started to ask were is all the protection that we should have for the truckers. They said normally these trucks don't drive in that big of groups. Mostly groups of 3 to 5. Giving them more protection but the danger is always still going to be out there. The road is now reopened. While hundreds more trucks are crossing the boarder to give them supplies.

In my opinion this was pretty good luck for the taliban. Normally we are armed pretty good and have a lot of protection. Granted they should have been traveling in smaller groups, the job still has to get done. The road is now reopened to trucking. While hundreds of trucks are still bringing goods to them. I think we should keep doing what we are doing and just watch out for accidents like these.

The Tea Party Gears Up for 2012

This artical is about the politics and how the tea party movement in the nation is effecting the democratic and republican parties. One of the most recent upsets in this tea party movement was in the state of Delaware. Many tea party candidates are now getting backing from former Alaskan Governor, Sarah Pahlin. She has been a very big influence. The tea party has strengthened this year because of the fustrations from people with both the democratic and republican politions. The tea party is also building because of the lack of trust in gov. and politcians in general.

In my opinon this movement is a good thing. Politcs are getting too dumb. We have to make some changes in our government. Politcians are going to have to get back to listening to what the people want instead of their own agendas.

chucky cheese toy recall

Chucky Cheese has over 500 companies in 48 states. They have light up rings and toy eye glasses, each pair with a small battery in the toy. All though no incidents have been reported, there are stories that kids are getting to the batteries. One of them swalling the battery. The other kid tried shoving it up their nose.

I believe it is a good thing that they are recalling these toys. Although it is costing them 1.2 million dollars. You can not put a price on someone. If they die or get sick it is just as much there fault as the parents. The kids should not be able to get access to the batteries. As big of a company as Chucky Cheese this is not going to hurt their business any.
